Continuing product supply constraints at Cisco has some customers waiting months for key Ethernet switches, firewalls and other network gear. Shipments of Cisco's ASA firewall are delayed until late June because of a chipset change on all ASA products. Cisco is aware of the problem.
"As we mentioned during our last quarterly conference call, we have experienced longer lead times on several of our products," a company spokesperson wrote in an e-mail reply to Network World. "This was the result of increased demand driven by the improvement in our overall markets. And, similar to what is happening in the entire industry we are seeing some product lead time extensions stemming from supplier constraints. We continue to build upon our strong relationships with our suppliers to proactively manage our supply chain and minimize any potential impact to our customers and partners."
TechKnowledgey, Inc is working with its customers to specify alternitive products to the ASA firewalls or delaying ASA installs untill the product becomes availible.
CBS evening news ran a story about the Buffalo Police Department exposing highly protected information stored on a Toshiba Multifunction Copier Printer because of poor security practices. This would never happen on a Xerox Work Center series MFP because all of these devices come standard with disk encryption and disk overwrite. This means that the data on the disk is stored on a scrambled format. As soon as the job is completed it is overwritten or erased. Xerox's foundation in large business has caused it to always value security in its products. Check out this link to read the compete story.
Install the Cumulative Security Update MS10-018 for Internet Explorer
Security Update MS10-018 resolves nine privately reported vulnerabilities and one publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer. The more severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using IE6 or IE7, and does not affect users of IE8. We highly recommend customers to promptly install this update to help protect against these vulnerabilities, and upgrade to IE8 to benefit from significant security enhancements as well as reliability and performance improvements.
